Thesis

In the curriculum of the Fifth Year of Architecture, students are supposed to design a building of their choice. The design of this building should be ideal in all respects.
In order to design an ideal building, they need to do research. This research is penned down, which makes the thesis, which is as follows.(For photographs and drawings of 'Shilp-Gram', click here.)
Hitesh chose to design an ideal workshop for stone-craftsmen which is named 'Shilp-Gram'.

Stone craftsmen carve stone and make monuments like Taj-Mahal and Dilwara Temples possible. To design a workshop for them, Hitesh chose to study their present condition. He travelled in Gujarat and Rajashthan to different workshops and observed their style of working and their problems. He found out that the stone craftsmen work with their families and their whole community is involved in this craft since generations. He studied about their community and its history. He tried to eliminate the problems these craftsmen were facing in his 'Shilpgram'.
